Dr. Doreen Ketchens is one of the world’s leading traditional jazz clarinetists, blending her classical training with the soulful musical roots of her native Tremé neighborhood in New Orleans. She and her band, Doreen’s Jazz New Orleans, have brought their joyful, energetic sound to 47 states and 24 countries, performing for dignitaries, royalty and four U.S. presidents. With 30 CDs, three DVDs and performances through Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. Department of State, Dr. Ketchens has become an internationally recognized ambassador for New Orleans jazz. Her unmistakable style and passionate performances have helped redefine what audiences and musicians believe is possible with the clarinet.
